Remote engagement, land manoeuvre and air mobility

In an operational environment marked by the highly intense and scattered nature of threats, the capacity to strike quickly, powerfully and at distance represents a decisive factor of superiority.

Land manoeuvres rely on ground troops and agile, protected and interconnected platforms, capable of operating on difficult terrain and adapting to the most demanding rates of engagement. Helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), loitering munitions and unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) all contribute to the rapid and precise projection of capabilities, in a long-range combat approach. The need to preserve the lives of soldiers engaged in close contact with the enemy in an increasingly lethal battlespace is driving the development of remote engagement capabilities. This is reflected in the increased use of long-range precision strikes – guided shells, missiles, rockets - and increasingly autonomous unmanned vectors in a manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) approach supported by artificial intelligence-enhanced digital architectures. Air mobility guarantees rapid intervention and tactical surprise, while providing direct support to frontline forces through reconnaissance, air-to-ground fire and troop transport, as well as agile and responsive logistical support. Finally, the reinforcement of ground-based air defence capabilities - in particular anti-missile and anti-drone systems - completes this transformation by ensuring effective protection against the emergence of increasingly complex technological threats. Ground domination relies on dictating the pace, controlling the distance and striking before being seen.
