Enjeux-de-la-maintenance

Industrial resilience and war economy

Industry must combine efficiency, flexibility and innovation to meet the challenges arising from budgetary constraints, geopolitical tensions and technological change.

Inventory production models facing new challenges, supply chain security and competition for critical materials: all bring with them the need to reassess current approaches. These issues call for a rethink of methods to strengthen the resilience and performance of the defence technological and industrial base. The integration of digital technologies from Industry 4.0, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), digital twins, robotics, additive manufacturing and cobotics, is profoundly transforming equipment management, predictive maintenance and inventory control. In addition, innovation in materials and energy solutions is contributing to improving the sustainability and performance of industrial systems. The concept of the war economy encourages players to rethink programme management and production models to enable capability agility, shifting from a reactive logic to short-term proactive anticipation. This change of dimension is dependent on the coordinated mobilisation of financing levers - public, private and banking - to support investment in production capacity, critical infrastructure and dual innovation, with a view to resilience and anticipation. Producing better, more, faster and cheaper - such are the challenges facing manufacturers in meeting the needs of the armed forces.
